Brand Photography
Branded photography is a key element in building a strong visual identity for businesses and organizations. This course will teach students how to create branded photos that capture the essence of a brand and communicate its values, personality, and message to the audience. Through hands-on activities and real-world examples, students will learn how to plan, execute, and edit branded photos that can be used across various marketing channels, including social media, website, and print materials.
Course Outline:
Week 1: Introduction to Branded Photography
- Definition of branded photography
- Importance of branded photography in marketing
- Examples of successful branded photography campaigns
- Introduce the final project: students will create a branded photo campaign for a real or fictional brand.
Week 2: Understanding Your Brand Identity
- Identifying your brand values, personality, and message
- Developing a visual style guide for branded photography
- Conducting research on your target audience and competitors
- Assign final project: students will choose a brand and conduct research on its values, personality, and target audience to inform their photo shoot.
Week 3: Planning a Branded Photography Shoot
- Setting goals and objectives for the shoot
- Choosing the right location, models, and props
- Creating a shot list and storyboard
- Peer review: students will present their shot lists and storyboards for feedback.
Week 4: Technical Skills for Branded Photography
- Camera settings for branded photography
- Lighting techniques for different moods and styles
- Composition rules for branded photography
- Peer review: students will present test shots for feedback.
Week 5: Editing Branded Photos
- Introduction to photo editing software
- Enhancing color, contrast, and sharpness
- Applying filters and effects that align with your brand identity
- Peer review: students will present edited photos for feedback.
Week 6: Using Branded Photos in Marketing
- Best practices for using branded photos on social media, website, and print materials
- Creating a visual content calendar
- Measuring the success of your branded photography campaign
- Final project presentations: students will present their branded photo campaign and explain how they used their photos in marketing.
